How To Prevent Neck Pains

Did you know that 13 percent of Adult Americans are suffering from neck pain?

It is a prevalent problem in the country due to our stressful lifestyle and bad habits. Here is how to prevent or protect your neck from injury and pain:

  1. Try using a new pillow – It may take some trial and error to find the right pillow for you. Make sure that your pillow keeps the natural curve in your neck.
  2. Sleep on your back – This is the best position because it lets your entire spine rest. Some people like to place a pillow under each arm while they sleep on their back.
  3. Computer monitor is at eye level – Your eyes should be looking directly at the middle of your monitor. If not, then move your monitor so that your neck does not have to move to see the middle of the screen.
  4. Using a headset – If you talk a lot on the phone and tend to hold the phone with your head and shoulder, this could be hurting your neck. Try either getting an ear piece or a headset to prevent this.
  5. Hydration - There are plenty of other reasons to drink water throughout the day, but one reason is because it hydrates the discs. Your discs are mostly made up of water so keeping them hydrated will help keep them strong.

Already have neck pain? Here are a few ways you can ease your neck pain at home.

  1. For the first few days, apply ice. After that, use a heating pad or try taking a hot shower.
  2. Lay off the sports for a few days.
  3. Try stretches for your neck. Slowly move your head side to side and up and down.
  4. Make sure your posture is correct.
  5. Try not sitting or standing in the same position for too long.
  6. Try getting a gentle message.

Another simple method is to use True Back, which is a traction device to relieve back and neck pain. It should not be considered for only correcting problems and rehabilitation, but also for preventing problems.
